[SHINTS ETP] Completion Ceremony of 5 dormitory buildings

SHINTS ETP Garment, a subsidiary of ShinTS in Ethiopia, held a dormitory completion ceremony on May 23. 


The event was attended by many distinguished officials of Ethiopian government agencies including Lelise Neme, commissioner of Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), and Sandokan Debebe, CEO of Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC). 


They are the first residential buildings built in the industrial park that is composed of 5 units of 5 story buildings with the capacity of lodging 3,400 employees in the total floor area of 4,800 m2. It is also free of charge for both meals and housing for employees. 


SHINTS ETP embarked on the construction of dormitories in the end of 2017 to deal with difficulties in supplying skilled workers due to high housing cost near the industrial park and improve the living conditions of employees. It is completed after 4 years of construction. 


Currently about 2,700 employees have already moved in and SHINTS ETP expects that the production volume will increase by more than 50% compared to last year. 


SHINTS ETP announced to build 6 new dormitory buildings including day care center and culture and sports facilities on that day. 


It is expected to be able to lodge 7,500 employees in total by 2026. 


In the meantime, the construction of dormitories of SHINTS was reported in the state news agency and several local media and drew attention as it was considered as a solution to solve the chronic problem of textile and sewing industries of Ethiopia.
